Mike King interview on the AM Show this morning.
For my very first 'news post' on the new Rata website, I wanted to share this interview of Mike King talking to the AM Show team this morning about a number of things – including that he has a lot to be grateful for in life. I believe all of us at times can lose sight of this in our own lives when the 'poor me' mindset flog sets in around us.
Mike talks about a number of things which affect the state of our mental health, namely:
How important our diet is to keep a healthy 'mind' and 'body'.
How work has a lot to do with the stress people have in their lives which not only affects their professional lives, but also their personal lives. More and more people don't feel valued.
In our work roles – no matter our job role or job description, we are constantly 'risk managers' which means we are always focussing on potential problems – i.e.: what is going wrong now or what could potentially go wrong. Being under this constant pressure means when we go home at the end of the day we can transfer this negative energy into our homes and relationships without actually realising this is happening. This is a good reminder that we need to focus and celebrate the positive stuff on a daily basis.
Anyway, take some time to listen to the interview and hopefully this will get you thinking about things you could change in your own lives.
