Welcome to 2020 everyone. We trust you all had a happy and relaxing festive season with family and friends to recharge the batteries.

We are at the beginning of a new decade which is a great opportunity to do things differently and to think ‘outside the box’. It is also important to reflect back on 2019 and to seriously think about what intentions we all wish to bring into reality this year and the steps required to do this.

We need to remember the intentions made over the festive season need to be actioned –
i.e.: turn the words into reality. Note: Reminder memo to one’s self to follow through on this.

For me personally, I wish to take more time out for:

  • enjoyable activities and experiences with my family and friends.
  • looking after myself better – both mind, body and soul. So yoga/boomfit classes here I come.
  • extending my knowledge and personal growth.

In recent years, I have spent far too much time working with very little down time for ‘ME’. Also, setting healthy boundaries when dealing with others is important to me now.

For Rata, now the website is live (yeah and thanks to Sam at Skyrocket Design) we want to hear from as many proactive people and organisations who want to drive change around business ethics and people’s overall health and well-being as possible to create an even bigger ground swell for change.

Rata believes positive action is essential for mental and physical workplace well-being for people, allowing them to flourish not only at work, but also in their personal lives and the wider communities they live in. We need to re-examine what and how we do things in order to achieve better results for employees and organisations. If we don’t change – how can we expect better results.

This quote by Harvey Firestone says it all really –
“The growth and development of people is the highest calling of true leadership.”

I personally feel that this is the decade to turn the tide and make this happen here in New Zealand and this is exciting to Rata.

Below is another quote that gives food for thought as we all have people in our lives, both professionally and personally that we would rather not have around – therefore this quote says it all really: –
“Don’t get so worked up over things you can’t change or people you can’t change. It’s not worth the anger build-up or the heartache. Control only what you can.”

Let’s make 2020 an amazing year by working together to drive positive change.
